Potential Profit in Falling and Rising FOREX Markets

A FOREX trader can find opportunities in both rising and falling markets unlike trading stocks where profits are made when stocks are rising in price. Depending on the position that the FOREX trader takes (Long or short position), he/she has the ability to make trade regardless of direction of the FOREX market.

For example, if a trader takes a long position, and thinks that USD will increase in value vs CAD, he will buy USD and sell CAD. If he thinks the opposite, he will go short and sell the USD and buy CAD.
