How To Maximize Vertical Spread Returns of Options

There are a number of guidelines you can follow in order to maximize you vertical spread position in options.

To maximize the amount of premium you receive by selling an option use the vertical spread options strategy only when the implied volatility is high
Look for key support or resistance levels in the underlying stock then sell an option with a strike price at or beyond that level
Do not sell an option with more than 60 days left until its expiration date
